Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing

EMDR

EMDR therapy is a specialized, evidenced-based practice that is indicated for treating trauma. It assists the brain in processing and “digesting” painful experiences. EMDR uses “bilateral stimulation” in the form of eye movements, tapping, and other methods in order to increase communication between parts of the brain. This process can help move activated trauma memories from the emotional part of the brain to the rational part of the brain, reducing the charge associated with them, and allowing the brain to create new, more adaptive connections and patterns.
